Kitchen Assistant

Mar 9, 2026

As a Kitchen Assistant at Partridge Lakes Café, you’ll play a key role in our busy lakeside kitchen, supporting food preparation and cooking while helping to maintain high standards of cleanliness and efficiency.

Working in a stunning setting overlooking the lakes, you’ll be part of a close-knit team delivering quality food and friendly service to our loyal café customers, many of whom visit several times a week.

While this role will mainly focus on kitchen duties, you will also support other aspects of café operations when required, as we work together as one team.

Note on Shifts: Shifts will be a mix of weekdays and weekends on a rota basis, with at least one weekend day required each week. As we are a small team, flexibility with your working pattern and willingness to help cover shifts is important.

What will you do?

Your role will primarily focus on kitchen responsibilities, including:

  • Cooking and assisting with food preparation, including use of the grill plate and fryers
  • Preparing ingredients and ensuring food is presented to our high standards
  • Maintaining food hygiene and safety standards at all times
  • Washing up and keeping kitchen equipment clean and organised
  • End-of-shift kitchen cleaning: sweeping, mopping, scrubbing surfaces, and ensuring all areas are spotless
  • Cleaning and maintaining fryers, grill plates, and other kitchen equipment

You will also support with:

  • Serving customers at the front hatch when required
  • Using the till and handling cash/card payments
  • Unpacking and organising food and drink deliveries
  • Clearing tables, emptying bins, and keeping the café and seating areas clean and welcoming
  • Supporting the team with any other café-related duties as needed

What we are looking for:

  • Someone who enjoys working in a kitchen environment and takes pride in producing quality food
  • A hard-working, hands-on individual who isn’t afraid of the “non-glamorous” side of kitchen work, from washing up to scrubbing down fryers and cleaning floors
  • A team player with a positive attitude and the ability to stay calm and efficient during busy periods
  • Flexible and reliable, with a strong work ethic
  • A good communicator with the ability to work well with colleagues

Previous kitchen experience is helpful but not essential. A willingness to learn and a strong work ethic are just as important.
